Side Effect

Side effect is the lay-man’s term to describe an adverse event (usually to describe negative (unfavourable) effects and often assuming a causal relationship with using a medicine). In order to avoid misinterpretation or confusion it is recommended to avoid using this term and particularly not regard it as synonymous with adverse event or adverse reaction.
